South Miami brother-sister duo missed a detail when they got caught in crimes, investigators say

SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. – The devil is in the details felt real for investigators in the case of a 30-year-old man and his 23-year-old sister who were both facing charges in Miami-Dade County.

Federal and state special agents reported Anthony Aleman worked for the U.S. Postal Service out of the Country Lakes Post Office and Shirley Aguirre at a cardiologist’s office in South Miami during the crimes.

Aleman, a mail carrier for over three years, had called in sick with COVID-19 several times during the pandemic before his supervisor reported noticing two “test results had the same test numbers” as he attempted to get sick-time pay, records show…
