GoFundMe set up for local restaurant owner

Five years ago, during the pandemic shutdown, Pita Pockets KB owner Federico Elkarout asked for donations to keep his restaurant in business, and the Key Biscayne community came through.

Now, his daughter, Sarah, is asking for assistance to keep the “proud small business owner” from losing the business “he built from the ground up and poured his life into” as Federico faces complications in the aftermath of major open-heart surgery.

Friday, she set up a GoFundMe page with a goal of collecting $15,000. By noon Saturday, more than $2,500 had been donated…
