The War Memorial Cenotaph, situated ahead of the Miami Beach Police Headquarters, hosted a wreath-laying and a 21-gun salute in a traditional display of honor for fallen service members. According to NBC Miami, these acts of reverence took place today, remembering the men and women who died while serving the country.
Miami Beach’s skies were also alive with the Hyundai Air Show, drawing families and veterans alike between 11th and 14th Streets along Ocean Drive. An attendee with deep military ties within his family, Chae Sheek, told WSVN, “It means a lot to me and my family.” With Grandpa and a brother having served and Sheek himself poised to join in August, the day took on additional layers of significance for them.
Not confined to Miami, Memorial Day observances unfolded across the nation. Fort Lauderdale’s Lauderdale Park held its own ceremony, while further up the coast, in Washington D.C., an emotional “Rolling to Remember Ride” took place. Riders and spectators converged to honor the military, including the over 83,000 service members still missing in action. “It is emotional because my dad did serve.
