“City within a city:” Miami Worldcenter opens with retail, dining

Miami Worldcenter — the $6 billion downtown development — is officially open.

The latest: The “city within a city” held its grand opening last week with a block party featuring artists like Flo Rida and Nicky Jam.

  • Yesterday, CIM Group, the developers behind the project, announced its official opening.

What’s inside: The mixed-use project is west of Biscayne Boulevard and east of I-95 (think directly west of the Kaseya Center), spans 27 acres and features residential, retail, commercial and hospitality spaces.

  • The project includes 100,000 square feet of public spaces, 300,000 square feet of retail and 16 towers for residential and hospitality spaces, per a news release.
  • Some residential spaces opened in 2019.
