A man climbed a seven-and-a-half-foot pole at a busy intersection in Miramar Monday morning and refused to come down for more than two hours.
The shirtless man’s actions prompted the Miramar police to respond to the incident at the intersection of Miramar Parkway and State Road 7. In September 2023, the same man climbed on top of an ambulance at the same intersection and refused to get down. He gained national attention when he danced and did push-ups on top of the Miramar Fire Rescue truck.
Miramar police said the pole-climber, identified as Todd Boothe, 33, is a repeat offender. Crisis negotiators worked to get him down and police took him into custody shortly after 11 a.m. TV crews captured Boothe alternating between squatting and standing on the pole.
