FHP releases name of man who shot at trooper on I-95 in Port St Lucie

ST LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — Florida Highway Patrol has released the identify of a man responsible for opening fire on I-95 in Port St Lucie Sunday. Tommy Leal, 29, of Miami Gardens allegedly shot at a Florida Highway Patrol trooper attempting to pull him over.

This all happening after officials noticed Leal driving 85 mph in a posted 70 mph zone on the highway and noticed a BOLO alert for his arrest out of Hillsborough County.

It was just after 5:30 a.m. when trooper turned on their lights and sirens and attempted a traffic stop. According to officials the suspect who has now been identified as Leal took off leading the trooper on a 109 mile per hour pursuit…
