Aventura Condo Residents Shaken by Massive Police Response to Hoax Shooting Report

Witnesses and nearby residents were caught in a moment of panic at an Aventura condominium this morning following a considerable deployment of law enforcement in response to what was later discovered to be a hoax. According to NBC Miami, Aventura Police received a call reporting a shooting at El Dorado Condominium, situated at 3675 N. Country Club Drive, prompting officers, armed with long guns, to converge on the location.

Video from the scene showcased the heavy police turnout while residents described the abrupt turmoil. “I was just leaving my home now and going to work, and as I was walking out, I had security and one of the police officers say go quickly, and then I heard there was some type of event going on,” Marlen Zapata told NBC Miami. Another resident, speaking on the condition of anonymity, recounted the startling sight of “four policemen with big rifles” as they left their home early in the morning.

The Aventura Police later announced the incident as a “swatting” hoax, confirming that there were no victims or actual violence. Swatting is a false reporting of an extreme criminal incident intended to draw a large police response to a specific location…
