MIAMI — G. Holmes Braddock, who served on the Miami-Dade School Board for nearly four decades and was the namesake of one of the county’s high schools, died Thursday, one day after his 100th birthday, the district announced.
Braddock served on the board for 38 years and championed school desegregation efforts in what was then Dade County during his 1969-1970 chairmanship, according to his biography on the G. Holmes Braddock High School website. The high school opened in 1989 off Southwest 147th Avenue in west Miami-Dade.
