A Miami man has been arrested in a large-scale refund fraud scheme that bilked Marshalls and TJ Maxx stores out of tens of thousands of dollars, authorities said.
Eduardo Rodriguez, 47, was arrested Tuesday on charges of grand theft over $100,000, attempted organized scheme to defraud, records showed.
According to an arrest report, the investigation into Rodriguez dates back to at least 2023 when an investigator for TJX Companies, which owns TJ Maxx and Marshalls, had been alerted to a report that showed multiple credit cards had refunds that exceeded purchases.
The report showed 18 credit cards and 11 gift cards were being used in the scheme by Rodriguez, who would make online purchases using his name and address, usually involving shoes or boots, the report said…
