Mystery as Body Found in Burned Car at Miami-Dade Walmart Parking Lot, Homicide Bureau Investigates

A person was found dead inside a burning car in a Miami-Dade Walmart parking lot, authorities said. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident yesterday evening around 7:22 p.m., as flames consumed a vehicle at the corner of Southwest 136th Avenue and 288th Street, according to NBC Miami.

Witnesses at the scene reported hearing a loud explosion. “We were going to Walmart right here and we just heard like a boom, a big boom… but the car was driving, so it’s very weird for a car to explode without anything else happening after that,” one woman told NBC Miami. Despite efforts from law enforcement, the fire was eventually extinguished by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. The identity and gender of the deceased have not been determined.

Following the discovery of the body, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office stated that their homicide bureau had taken over the investigation, WSVN reported.
