In a disturbing incident coming out of South Florida, a man named John Michael MacMillan has been arrested on charges of video voyeurism after allegedly being caught filming a minor while she showered, authorities reported. The Miami Beach resident was taken into custody on Tuesday, and a judge has since set his bond at $7,500 during a court appearance yesterday, as per NBC Miami.
According to the arrest report, MacMillan’s wife claimed that earlier this month, the young victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, discovered MacMillan filming her through a window while taking a shower in their home. The minor emerged from the bathroom visibly upset and declared she saw MacMillan with his phone. Confronted with the allegation, MacMillan reportedly said, “It’s not what you think.” His wife then managed to take possession of his phone, finding videos in the ‘recently deleted’ folder featuring the victim showering. MacMillan promptly gathered up all his devices and a number of personal items before fleeing their residence, stated the arrest report obtained by NBC Miami.
Prior to this incident, weeks earlier, the victim had found a hidden camera strategically positioned in the bathroom. The camera was tucked underneath the vanity, aimed squarely at the shower door, adding depth to the charges MacMillan now faces.
