Family of Florida college student says lack of healthcare documents barred them from helping after horrific accident

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – In August of 2018, 19-year-old Baylie Grogan had just started her sophomore year at the University of Miami.

A neuroscience major, Baylie’s future was bright. But then one night would change everything.

Shawnee Baker, Baylie’s mother, said it was her daughter’s first weekend back to school when tragedy unfolded.

“She was out with friends in downtown Miami. She had decided to leave the club early, hailed a rideshare, and was waiting for her ride when two young men approached her and said they were med students from the University of Miami and were also headed back to campus, did you want to jump in the ride with them,” Baker said…
