Sisters stopped for safety issue before fatal Fort Lauderdale personal watercraft crash: Police

Two teen sisters were stopped on a personal watercraft by officers for a safety issue before the crash in Fort Lauderdale that left one of them dead and the other hospitalized, police said Friday.

The sisters’ identified by family members as 13-year-old Rachel Aliza Nisanov and Aviva Bracha Nisanov, were on the watercraft in the Intracoastal Waterway Tuesday afternoon when they struck a concrete dock, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials said.

Rachel Nisanov was killed in the collision, where her sister was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
