Miami man allegedly caught on video fatally shooting sister faces death penalty: Records

The death penalty is now on the table as a potential punishment for the man caught on a home surveillance video allegedly shooting and killing his sister inside a home in southwest Miami-Dade earlier this year, according to court records.

Prosecutors announced Tuesday that 58-year-old Pedro Pablo Linares has been indicted on charges of first-degree murder and armed burglary in the April 5 killing of his sister, 60-year-old Beatriz Linares-Calamita.

Home surveillance video from the residence in the 300 block of Southwest 79th Avenue in the Fontainebleau neighborhood captured a masked and gloved gunman entering the home and shooting Linares-Calamita multiple times before slamming the door and walking away.

Investigators later identified the shooter as Linares.

Authorities said Linares fled the scene but was arrested weeks later in Louisiana. He was extradited to Miami-Dade over the summer and has been held without bond since…
