South Miami employee accused of raping woman at public works building: Sheriff

A South Miami employee accused of raping a woman who was cleaning at the city’s public works building was arrested on Monday, deputies said.

Nelson Gomez, 47, was charged with sexual armed battery.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the victim was assigned to clean at the City of South Miami Public Works Department building on Southwest 75th Avenue where Gomez is employed.

An arrest report said that while the victim was cleaning a bathroom, Gomez entered the bathroom armed with a knife and demanded that she perform a sexual act on him…
