A Florida man is in custody after police said he caused two car crashes in one night, including a fatal hit-and-run.
Oscar Andres Portillo Lopez, 24, was driving his Honda Accord on September 18 when he rear-ended a Chevrolet Colorado. The Colorado driver told police he had been swerving at high speed, hit her vehicle, then backed up and struck it a second time. Witnesses said Portillo Lopez drove past her and smiled sarcastically before fleeing.
Portillo Lopez allegedly continued driving recklessly, running several red lights, before slamming into a Jeep Compass driven by 35-year-old Cinthia Liliana Sierra Linares, who died at the scene. Her vehicle reportedly hit a traffic pole, and Portillo Lopez’s car came to a stop after crashing into a traffic sign and a wall. A passenger from the Colorado stopped to help Linares and saw Portillo Lopez exit his vehicle laughing and shouting in Spanish, “What’s the problem?”…
