A 25-year-old Pompano Beach woman, Angelina Chenel Esty, has been arrested in connection to a luxury watch theft scheme, marking her latest run-in with South Florida law enforcement. Esty turned herself in to Miami police yesterday, facing allegations of burglarizing a Brickell apartment on August 9 and stealing a $20,000 Rolex along with approximately $4,000 in cash, according to WSVN. Additional charges include grand theft in second-degree between $20,000 and $100,000.
Reports indicate that Esty and another unidentified woman had met the victim and his friend at a downtown Miami bar before all parties proceeded to the victim’s apartment. It was here that the alleged theft took place; the man later woke with limited memory of the event, suspecting he might have been drugged. A friend’s replica Rolex, valued at $1,000, and an unapproved $500 transaction via Cash App were also part of the items reported missing. Surveillance footage from the bar helped law enforcement in identifying the suspects, and the victim subsequently pointed Esty out in a photo lineup.
Esty is no stranger to such schemes, with previous arrests for similar “bad date” thefts. Among the recorded incidents was a May theft at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel, where Esty allegedly drugged a man and absconded with his $20,000 Rolex Datejust and a diamond bracelet worth around $10,000, as per Local10.
