Standoff near downtown Miami: Man hid inside Camillus House, police say

A tense hours-long standoff near downtown Miami ended early Friday morning after police arrested a man who had barricaded himself inside a Miami homeless shelter.

At around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Miami police officers went to Camillus House, 400 NW Third Ct., after they got reports of a possibly armed man hiding inside. At least one officer fired his weapon during the exchange, according to Miami police.

The man was eventually taken into custody around 2:30 a.m. Police have yet to identify the man, who they say remained at a Miami police station as of Friday morning…
