In 1985, a group of Miami artists got kicked out of their studios but found gold in trash. They bought an old Art Deco bakery in run-down Wynwood for just $10 – yes, ten bucks.

Soon, Helene Pancoast, Faith Atlass, and the Nadels turned this shell into Miami’s first real art hub. While the neighborhood crumbled after factories left, these artists planted seeds of change.

They even invited street artists to paint the walls back in 1986, long before Wynwood became famous for such things…
