According to authorities, 39-year-old Leticia Puentes became involved in a heated verbal argument with her son inside their home near Northwest 72nd Street, roughly six miles north of Downtown Miami. The disagreement reportedly centred on a phone bill and the son’s repeated tardiness at school, which had already been a subject of ongoing tension within the household.
What began as a verbal dispute allegedly intensified when the son started throwing objects around the home, further escalating the confrontation. The conflict soon became physical.
Violent Altercation Unfolded Inside the Home
During the altercation, which occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m., mother and son reportedly ended up struggling on the floor. It was at this point, according to the arrest report referenced in local coverage, that Puentes allegedly grabbed a fork and stabbed her son behind the ear.
