MIAMI, Fla. (CBS12) — More than 50,000 fentanyl pills were concealed inside a child’s toy during a traffic stop in Fort Lauderdale, leading to the arrest of a Mexican national in the country illegally.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on November 24, that officers approached a vehicle driven by Guillermo Higuera German, 37, during a consensual encounter on November 17. A certified narcotics K-9 alerted officers to the presence of drugs, prompting a search of the vehicle. Inside, investigators found several boxes and a Sesame Street-style school bus toy packed with thousands of fentanyl pills weighing around five kilograms, about 11 pounds.
Further investigation revealed that Higuera German was unlawfully present in the United States and had previously been deported five times. He now faces federal charges and is again subject to removal, according to the news release…
