MIAMI — Cuban-American singer and Star Island resident Gloria Estefan, one of the most influential figures in Latin music history, was honored Sunday night during “A Grammy Celebration of Latin Music, “ a two-hour televised special hosted by the Recording Academy and broadcast on CBS.
The event, aired from Miami, celebrated the impact and legacy of Latin music in the United States, with Estefan being recognized for her 50-year career that helped bring Latin pop into the mainstream. Actress Rita Moreno presented Estefan with the award.
