‘Non-Accidental’: Florida Woman Jailed After Girlfriend’s Son Hospitalized With Multiple Fractures

A 34-year-old Broward County woman is facing a felony charge after police allege she is responsible for severe injuries sustained by her girlfriend’s young son in September.

Miramar Police took Deniqua Yvonne Lovett on Sunday, charging her with child neglect causing great bodily harm. The investigation began after the child was admitted to Memorial West Hospital with injuries that medical staff and investigators quickly flagged as suspicious. Due to the severity of his condition, the boy was subsequently transferred to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital for specialized care.
