Before a standing-room-only auditorium at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami, Eileen Higgins took the throne as the city’s new queen.
“Miami’s first madam mayor,” as one speaker gushed, eliciting cheers and applause.
At her Dec. 18 installation ceremony, Higgins reinforced her core campaign slogans.
“You chose competence over corruption, direction over distraction, public service over political gridlock,” Higgins said. “My job now is to deliver on your choices, to match a vision with determination, a city defined not by what we say, but by what we do.”…
