Protecting public funds and ensuring transparency within county government remain top priorities in Miami-Dade County. To support this mission, the Office of Inspector General (OIG) continues to encourage residents, county employees, and contractors to report suspected fraud, waste, mismanagement, misconduct, or abuse of power.
The OIG’s mission is to detect, investigate, and prevent wrongdoing through independent oversight of county operations. In addition to identifying improper conduct, the office seeks to recover public funds from county officials, employees, contractors, and vendors who misuse taxpayer resources while doing business with the county.
One of the key features of the OIG’s reporting process is confidentiality. Individuals may remain anonymous when submitting a report. However, the office encourages people to identify themselves when possible, as this allows investigators to follow up, request clarification, and gather additional information that can strengthen an investigation.
