FBI Honors Fallen Agents Alfin and Schwartzenberger in Miami on Fifth Anniversary of Their Line-of-Duty Deaths

Two FBI Special Agents, Daniel Alfin and Laura Schwartzenberger, were remembered on the fifth anniversary of their deaths while serving in the line of duty. The memorial service, which took place at the FBI Miami Field Office, saw law enforcement officials gather to honor the agents’ service and sacrifice, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida.

During the ceremony, Special Agent in Charge Brett Skiles shared anecdotes from Alfin and Schwartzenberger’s time at the Academy, in the field, and at home, demonstrating their relentless dedication to their roles; and FBI Director Kash Patel, who not only spoke words of comfort for the bereaved but also his resolve in keeping the agents’ memory at the forefront with a planned permanent memorial. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, it was on February 2, 2021, when Agents Alfin and Schwartzenberger were fatally shot in Sunrise, during a violent crimes against children investigation, where they were ambushed serving a federal search warrant, which also wounded three of their colleagues, their bravery deemed emblematic of the FBI’s highest traditions…
