MIAMI, Florida — The United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida joined the FBI Miami Field Office to commemorate the lives of Special Agents Daniel Alfin and Laura Schwartzenberger, who were killed in the line of duty five years ago.
The ceremony took place beside a memorial tree and bench with a commemorative plaque, according to the press release. FBI Chaplain Rabbi Claudio Kogan offered an invocation, followed by remembrances from Special Agent in Charge Brett Skiles, who shared personal stories about the agents. FBI Director Kash Patel attended and delivered remarks, expressing his commitment to remember the agents daily and announced a permanent memorial in their honor.
Special Agents Alfin and Schwartzenberger were ambushed on February 2, 2021, while executing a federal search warrant in Sunrise as part of a violent crimes against children investigation.
