No Armed Threat Found at Miami Schools After Lockdown, Authorities Investigate False Alarm

Authorities conducted a search at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami after reports emerged of a potentially armed individual on campus today. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded, arriving at the school to investigate the alarming reports. The situation escalated, resulting in Columbus, along with St. Brendan Elementary and High School and Banyan Elementary being placed under lockdown as precautions.

In coordination with their Priority Response Team, deputies conducted searches of both Columbus and the St. Brendan Catholic Church campuses, as well as their associated school facilities. Despite the tense atmosphere and the presence of law enforcement throughout the schools, it turned out that there was no armed threat after all. As NBC 6 Miami reported, officials found after an extensive search that there was no active shooter, and the call was unfounded.

The Archdiocese of Miami shed light on the status of the St. Brendan school community during the ordeal. According to WSVN, St. Brendan Elementary had informed families via email that students and staff were unaffected and a teacher within the school communicated that everyone was safe.
