Miami Beach Will Roll Out Less Strict Rules For Spring Break 2026

Miami Beach will increase parking and towing rates, use license-plate readers, and boost DUI enforcement for Spring Break this March. According to an article from The Miami Herald, some rules will be less strict than in past years, especially compared to 2025, which had smaller crowds and no major incidents.

How to enter parking areas of Miami Beach

Beach entrances on Ocean Drive will have security checkpoints, but they will stay open past 6 p.m. Sidewalk seating will continue, and parking garages and surface lots south of 23rd Street will remain open. Last year, these areas were closed during peak weekends. These changes show Miami Beach’s commitment to preparing for spring break visitors.

After two successful back-to-back spring break seasons, Miami Beach has ended the chaos and restored order,” said Mayor Steven Meiner.

A shift from much stricter regulations

The City Commission has authorized City Manager Eric Carpenter to ease some restrictions. The city also launched a marketing campaign to promote Miami Beach as a top destination for health and fitness activities. This is a shift from previous years that aimed to keep young visitors away. Events in March include the Life Time 305 Half Marathon & 5K on March 1 and the Gymreapers Wodapalooza fitness festival from March 12 to March 15. Parking rates in South Beach garages will be higher, ranging from $40 to $100 every Thursday through Sunday.

Police will use license-plate readers on the eastbound lanes of the MacArthur and Julia Tuttle causeways on March 13-15 and March 20-22, starting at 10 p.m. They will also operate along the Fifth Street corridor from March 6-8.
