Florida Adolescent Residential Program for Primary Mental Health, Eating Disorders

A first-of-its-kind adolescent residential program in South Florida treating primary mental health and primary eating disorders, saying it is offering physician-led, trauma-informed, family-and community-integrated care meets the urgent needs of teens facing complex diagnoses. Galen Hope, a leader in whole-person, trauma-informed behavioral healthcare, announced the opening of its innovative Adolescent Residential Treatment Program, the first in South Florida designed to treat both primary mental health conditions and primary eating disorders in a residential setting for teens ages 13–17.

Developed by psychiatrist Wendy Oliver-Pyatt, MD, and clinical psychologist Amy Boyers, PhD, the program combines a physician-led, multidisciplinary team with an innovative care model that integrates both the Family Integration Model (FIM) and Community Integration. This approach meets each teen where they are emotionally, clinically, and developmentally while fostering sustainable recovery and real-world readiness.

They stated that the launch comes at a “pivotal moment.” According to the U.S. Surgeon General, youth mental health is in crisis, with rising rates of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and suicidal ideation.
