Miami-Dade detectives say a late-night hookup that started on the map-based hookup app Sniffies ended with a Doral man in jail on serious felony charges involving a minor.
According to an arrest report, investigators allege that Yosiel Companioni arranged a meetup with a teen through the app. He is now facing felony counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and unlawful use of a communications device and was booked into the county jail after his arrest on Tuesday. Detectives say the case opened when a parent found messages on the teen’s phone, then turned them over so police could track records and surveillance to a suspect.
Police concluded that the meetup in Doral on Dec. 1 amounted to statutory rape under state law and moved to arrest Companioni after the family reported what they had discovered. Officers took him into custody at his workplace, the Costco on West Flagler Street, and Miami-Dade Corrections processed him at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. The arrest report lists the two felony counts and notes that he remained in custody on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold, according to Local 10.

Detectives say the exchange shows he asked the user for his age, then followed up with a voicemail in Spanish that was transcribed in the report as: “You seem like a kid … I could get into trouble … Do you want to meet around one or one thirty in the morning?”…
