One person dead after being struck by Brightline train in Florida

FLORIDA — A pedestrian was killed early Sunday after being struck by a Brightline train in Fort Lauderdale, authorities said.

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. near the 700 block of North Andrews Avenue, just north of the Brightline station.

According to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue spokesman Frank Guzman, the man was still alive but pinned underneath the locomotive when crews arrived at the scene. During rescue efforts, the victim lost a pulse and was later pronounced dead after being extricated from beneath the train…
