Part deli, part gourmet market, Frankie & Wally’s is a new neighborhood spot in Coral Gables that’s focused on quality ingredients and thoughtful cooking.
We arrived at the recently opened Frankie & Wally’s just after 3:30 p.m., well past the lunch rush and right around the time most people seemed to be stopping in for an afternoon latte or pastry. In an attempt to avoid the crowd, we missed part of the food instead. Out of the five sandwiches listed that day, three were already unavailable.
It turns out this is simply part of the rhythm here. The bread is delivered fresh daily, ingredients are prepared in small batches, and when things run out, they run out. The two signatures, the Wally and the Frankie, were still available in the grab-and-go fridge near the entrance, made fresh earlier in the day.
What We Ordered
We chose the “Wally,” which came wrapped neatly in their branded deli paper and accompanied by small containers of olive oil and vinegar to finish it ourselves. It was excellent.
