GLENDALE, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Wisconsin say a 162-unit apartment building was evacuated on Monday after a fire broke out on a third-floor balcony.
According to a release from the North Shore Fire Rescue, crews responded at 4:41 p.m. to a 162-unit apartment building on 4848 North Lydell Avenue in the City of Glendale for reports of a fire. Arriving units were met with flames on the exterior balconies of apartments on the second, third, and fourth floors of the building, with the fire also appearing to extend into the attic.
The fire alarm system inside the building was working and allowed residents to begin evacuating early. Officers from the Glendale Police Department immediately began making sure evacuations were underway and assisted with helping to evacuate residents with disabilities.

70 total firefighters were brought to the scene, with the fire being brought under control and extinguished in under 50 minutes. Residents of 8 units in the building are now being assisted by the Red Cross as they have been displaced by the fire…
