Milwaukee man sentenced for false tax returns

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) — Cameron Summers was sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison for two counts of aiding and assisting the preparation of false tax returns.

According to a press release, Summers was an employee at a tax preparation business in Milwaukee. From 2020 to 2022, Summers filed over 400 false individual income tax returns to the IRS.

He used false business expenses, Sick and Family Leave Credits, Fuel Credits, and Educational Tax Credits to inflate his client’s tax refund accounts.

Summers’ actions led to the IRS losing over $1.1 million, which he’s been ordered to repay in full in restitution…
