Café Corazón Bay View Will Remain Open Until Building Is Sold

The owners of Café Corazón are selling the Bay View building that houses their restaurant (2394 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.), one of three locations of the Mexican concept. The restaurant will remain open until the building sells, the owners said in a statement.

George and Wendy Mireles became Milwaukee restaurateurs in 2009 when they opened the first Corazón in a quirkily shaped Riverwest building (a former train service station) adjacent to the Beerline Trail. They opened the Bay View location in 2016 and the Brown Deer one in 2022. They also had a location in Mequon Public Market from 2019-22.

One of the ways the Mireles have tried to distinguish Corazón from other Mexican establishments is with its from-the-farm ethos, using locally sourced produce and, at one point, beef from Wendy’s family farm…
