MILWAUKEE — Violent crime is declining nationally and in Wisconsin, according to newly released 2025 data from the FBI.
The FBI reported the largest drop in crime rates from 2024 to 2025 since the agency began collecting data and estimates in 1936. Nationally, the data showed a 9.3% drop in violent crime, an 18.1% drop in murder, an 18.5% drop in robbery offenses and a 12.4% drop in property crime.
