MILWAUKEE, Wis. — A proposed Milwaukee County ordinance would implement a 15 mile per hour speed limit for e-bikes along County trails.
It comes as many municipalities are navigating how to regulate electric bicycles, while also differentiating e-bikes from the faster “e-motos” also being used in increasing numbers.
The proposed amendment to County General Ordinance 47.10 introduced August 14 would “establish applicability of local laws to bicycle riding, and create a speed limit of 15 miles per hour on the Oak Leaf Trail and park pathways where bicycle riding is permitted”.
