The monarch butterfly was prepped for the procedure – its body cooled and secured on a slotted tray, wings placed in protective sleeves, thorax half-covered with a glass slide – and at 2 p.m. Sept. 4 it was “go time” at the Urban Ecology Center’s Washington Park branch in Milwaukee.
