This $23 million luxury apartment and retail building in Cudahy will break ground soon

The Scoot Grandeur Apartments multi-use building coming to Cudahy could scoop its first dirt soon.

The project from Franklin-based Land by Label Development will bring apartments and retail space to a busy corner to help increase Cudahy’s downtown scene.

Here’s what you need to know.

How many apartments will be available?

The project includes 78 luxury apartment units in the 115,000-square-foot, four-story building designed byRinka Architects. Street level parking will be provided ― 51 enclosed and 21 exterior spaces ― to “eliminate the cost of contaminated soil handling and haul-off,” according to the Land by Label project page.

Apartments will range from studios at 590 square feet up to three-bedroom units at 1,358 square feet. Rents are estimated between $1,150 and $2,400 per month.

About 3,000 square feet will be used for residential amenities including a lounge, fitness center, clubroom with roof deck and more.

What types of retail could move in?

The building includes about 4,100 square feet of commercial space at the corner of Packard and Layton avenues ― 900 square feet less than initial plans. This space is “geared towards a brewery, café or restaurant,” according to the city’s project page.
