Giannis Antetokounmpo denies not having a good relationship with Adrian Griffin: “I invited him to my wedding”

Many are still shocked at the Milwaukee Bucks’ decision to fire head coach Adrian Griffin midseason.

Griffin led the Bucks to a 30-13 record, second-best in the East and third overall in the entire NBA. Under Griff, the Bucks ranked first in offense, second in points scored per game, fifth in 3 PM, and third in FG%.

If there was an issue, it was on defense which could’ve been a problem later on. But overall, the Bucks were doing well with Griffin as their head coach.

As a result, speculations emerged about his firing not being about basketball, with some pointing fingers at Giannis Antetokounmpo , who not long ago ranted about the team’s defensive woes.

However, after Milwaukee’s win against the Cleveland Cavaliers, “The Greek Freak” once and for all cleared the air on whether he had anything to do with Adrian’s dismissal.

“I loved the guy,” said Giannis. “I invited him to my wedding, you know? I talked with him. I was coached by him, and we did very, very, very well.”

“I have a job,” Antetokounmpo continued. “My job is to be the best version that I can be and try to lead this team to win games. Like that is why I get paid. I don’t get paid to change people’s lives and make people uncomfortable. I get paid to defend, to block shots, and I try to stick to that as much as I can.”
