The interim superintendent of the Whitnall School District announced he will resign less than a month after taking the job, a school board member confirmed to the Journal Sentinel on Tuesday. The news was first shared by a community group, Whitnall Resident Engagement Network (WREN).
Before announcing his resignation, interim superintendent Ed Brzinski told board members he was concerned about their ability to work together collegially and productively. He started the job Jan. 16 after the former superintendent abruptly retired. Brzinski was expected to serve through June but now plans to leave Feb. 9.
School board member Quin Brunette told the Journal Sentinel that the board is already working to hire a new interim superintendent. He said he expects the board to meet Wednesday night to discuss the position and potentially hire someone the same night.
Brunette said Brzinski told him he was resigning because the workload of the superintendent position turned out to be greater than the part-time hours he was hired to work. Brzinski did not immediately respond to interview requests from the Journal Sentinel.
