A new restaurant is coming to Milwaukee’s south side in the space of the former Schultz’s Tavern, 2901 S. 11th St.
The new spot, named The Last One, plans to serve an American-Mexican breakfast and a more traditional Mexican dinner.
Dishes for breakfast include chilaquiles, breakfast tacos and omelets. Dinner dishes include enchiladas, carne asada, Mexico City-style street tacos, and ceviche.
Owner Rosa Marquez said they tried to open last year, but the space was so outdated that they had update a lot.
“The bar before closed around 2011, so it wasn’t all up to code,” she said.
Marquez still has work to do, and is planning on opening at the end of 2024.
