Carmelo Anthony rips the Bucks for improper handling of Jrue Holiday trade: “That was disrespectful”

Former NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony sympathizes with the ill feelings that Jrue Holiday developed upon his unexpected departure from the Milwaukee Bucks in last year’s offseason.

In the latest episode of his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Melo argued that the Bucks didn’t show enough compassion about trading Jrue away as the star point guard was caught off-guard by the sudden exit from the organization.

“It’s no friends in business. It’s no friends in business. But there’s a fine line between respect and disrespect,” Melo said . “As a player, I can accept being traded. But like respect, if you respect me as a player and if you say you respect your players, then have a conversation with me, especially a player of Jrue’s caliber who did what he did in Milwaukee and was a pivotal piece to Milwaukee’s success.”

No heads-up for Holiday

Holiday, who stayed in Milwaukee for the past three seasons and helped them win the 2021 title, recently appeared in The Draymond Green Show and vented about how the franchise handled his trade. In the blink of an eye, Jrue was shipped to the Portland Trail Blazers in a blockbuster three-team deal that landed Damian Lillard with the Bucks.
