Popular brewery in Wisconsin changing owners, reflects on nine-year legacy

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – A popular brewery with four locations in Wisconsin is changing ownership, with the founders sharing a heartfelt goodbye in a social media post.

Good City Brewing, which has four locations in Milwaukee County, announced that The Explorium, another Milwaukee-area brewery, will take over its operations.

“Changes often come with a mix of emotions,” founders David Dupee and Dan Katt said in a joint statement. “While that is certainly true for David and me, the predominant emotion for us today is one of gratitude.”

Founded in 2016 with the mission to “Seek the Good,” Good City Brewing became a significant part of Milwaukee’s craft beer scene. The founders expressed pride in their role and credited their employees, guests, friends, and family for the brewery’s success.

“The craft beer industry has experienced seismic shifts, and its future will require strategic alliances,” the statement continued. “Mike and Joan Doble, the new owners, are fantastic operators who will help advance the taproom experiences we envisioned.”
