Milwaukee Police Department Launches Robbery Deterrence Classes for Local Businesses to Combat Crime

In a move designed to foster proactive crime prevention within the local business community, the Milwaukee Police Department announced via social media that it is now providing robbery deterrence classes. These classes are aimed at educating business owners and their employees on a range of strategies, from personal safety to asset protection, in light of growing concerns over business-targeted crime.

The initiative, announced on the department’s Facebook page, is open for participation to “businesses in our community” and promises to equip attendees with practical skills to minimize their risk of becoming crime victims. According to the Milwaukee Police Department’s post, participants will dive into understanding the concepts of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) and, how these can be applied to their individual businesses. They will also gain an understanding of the crime triangle and pertinent city and state laws.

“The participants receive knowledge on how to protect themselves, assets and customers to deter potential victimization,” the Milwaukee Police Department post reads.
