In response to the devastating floods that hit Milwaukee and southeast Wisconsin earlier this August, the American Red Cross has set up multi-agency resource centers to aid those affected. These centers are intended to provide a comprehensive hub where residents can obtain crucial assistance and information about the resources available as they start to rebuild. As reported by WISN, affected individuals are reminded to bring proof of address to access the services.
The Red Cross confirms that there is an ongoing strong need for resources following the floods. 48 people were unable to return to their homes and stayed in overnight shelters provided by the organization. With the intent to provide conveniently located assistance, Jennifer Warren of the American Red Cross told CBS 58, “This is affecting entire neighborhoods. So that’s why we have three different MARCS throughout the city.”
The centers are scheduled to operate on specific dates: Tomorrow at the King Community Center, Wednesday at McCarty Park Pavilion, and Saturday at Mary Ryan Boys & Girls Club, all open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Assistance will include services from agencies such as the Wisconsin Bureau of Consumer Protection, Wisconsin BadgerCare Plus (Medicaid), Milwaukee County DHHS, and Wisconsin FoodShare (SNAP), among others…
