It’s that time of year again. As Milwaukee students settle into the rhythm of a new school year, the 30th Street Industrial Corridor Corp is gearing up to lend a helpful hand—or a backpack, rather. Today, they’re hosting the Back 2 School Giveaway at Garden Homes Park, a community event designed to set students up with necessary supplies. From noon to 4 p.m., families can drop by to grab everything from notebooks and pencils to personal hygiene products and winter coats while supplies last. There will even be a select number of laptops up for grabs to help bridge the digital divide.
With the school year already kicked off, Alderwoman Andrea M. Pratt is spotlighting this event as an essential aid for local students. In a release hosted on the city of Milwaukee website, Pratt underscores the importance of having the proper supplies as a cornerstone of student success. “Having the proper school supplies plays a large role in student success, and this is a fantastic opportunity for families who may still need school supplies for their children,” she said, highlighting the event as a chance for community engagement.
