Milwaukee’s Southside to Receive Police Reinforcements, Aims to Strengthen Community Trust

Milwaukee’s Southside neighborhoods will see an increase in police presence as additional officers are assigned to the area. The announcement was made by Police Chief Jeffrey Norman and Patrol Assistant Chief Steven Johnson during the Common Council’s 2026 budget hearing. Alderman Peter Burgelis expressed support for the decision, noting that public safety remains a top concern among residents.

As per the City of Milwaukee release, the increase in officers will strengthen MPD District Six, improving response times and community engagement. The district, which includes several residential neighborhoods, has also been the focus of initiatives related to traffic safety and neighborhood involvement.
