Study shows removal of I-794 could result in loss of $450 million to economy

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee could lose about $450 million in economic growth every year once construction is completed to remove I-794, a new study by the Commercial Association of REALTORS – Wisconsin (CARW) estimated.

For years, leaders and community members have been considering the future of the highway that runs straight through downtown. One potential option being mulled over is a complete removal, with people citing benefits in green space and transformation of the neighborhoods surrounding it.
